By Jane Moss

The Darien District 61 Educational Foundation proudly recognizes Ms. Bridget Brown as the 2022 Great Starts in District 61 Honoree. This award recognizes former students of District 61 who, having had a great start in the district’s schools, are on exciting paths of learning, service, employment, and adventure in their lives. Bridget is the 8th Great Starts Honoree to be recognized by the Foundation.

Bridget attended District 61 schools from preschool to 8th grade. She graduated from Eisenhower Junior High in 2001.

Bridget has had a very positive impact on District 61. She is the first student with a disability to be included in general education classes in the district. She is most appreciative of her champions who helped her along the way and has wonderful memories of her time in District 61.

Bridget continues to advocate for individuals with disabilities through her organization, Butterflies for Change. She has been recognized for her work with many awards.

The Foundation is honored to recognize Bridget Brown as the 2022 Great Starts honoree and the exciting journey she has taken since moving on from District 61. We look forward to hearing more great things about Bridget in the future.

Bridget plans to visit the schools in the fall.
