The Darien District 61 Educational Foundation proudly recognizes Lt. Col. Bradly Bucholz as the 2020 Great Starts in District 61 Honoree. This award recognizes former students of District 61 who – having had a “great start” in District 61 – are on exciting paths of learning, service, employment, and adventure in their lives. The program is designed to recognize these individuals early in their lives and careers to provide inspiration to current District 61 students and the community.

Brad attended District 61 Schools for grades 3-8. He graduated from Eisenhower Junior High in 1995. After graduating from Hinsdale South in 1999, Brad received an appointment to the United States Air Force Academy, graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering is 2003.

Throughout his military career, Brad has traveled the world for many assignments serving his country. He has been recognized with many awards and decorations. Currently, Brad is a Lieutenant Colonel stationed in Japan.

Brad’s advice to current students would be: “Never give up. You never know what you might miss out on and that success can be one more try away.”
Many former Lace students will remember Brad visiting his mom’s 3rd grade classroom and speaking to many classes there.

The Darien District 61 Educational Foundation is honored to recognize Lt. Col. Bradly Bucholz as the 2020 Great Starts Honoree and the exciting journey he has taken since moving on from District 61. We look forward to hearing great things about Lt. Col. Bradly Bucholz in the future.

We will recognize Lt. Col. Bradly Bucholz in the fall when school resumes.
